Lohri & Makar Sankranti
'Lohri' is a famous festival of North India. It is celebrated especially in the States of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Uttrakhand and Jammu. It is celebrated on the 13th day of January which falls in the month of Paush or Magh according to Hindu Calendar. Lohri festival marks the culmination of winter.
The main theme of Lohri is the belief that it is the cultural celebration of the winter solstice. On this festival, people gather around the bonfires, throw sweets, puffed rice and popcorn into the flames, sing popular songs and exchange greetings. The prasad comprises of six main things: til, gajak, gur, moongphali, phuliya and popcorn. The gatherings and celebrations make Lohri a community festival.

'Makar sankranti' is year's very first Indian Festival celebrated nation wide with joy and happiness. Makar sankranti is celebrated on 14th of January every year. Sankarnti is auspicious and sacred festival with mythological belief . On the day of Makar Sankranti people make beautiful rangoli designs outside their home and sweets and snacks made of til and gud are commonly consumed as their tendency is hot. In Gujarat, Sankranti is known as uttarayan and all Gujarat celebrate it as India Kite festival and kites are flied on a mass level by every single person. Makar Sankranti brings true colors of India. Makar Sankrati is widely celebated by all religions despite being a major Hindu Festival which strengthen cultural heritage of India and all people celebrate it with equal joy and fun.
